I was pleased to speak in the Members Debate highlighting Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2020, during which I spoke about my young 16 year old constituent and her family's struggle to get the much needed support from health officials and other services. I have sought a meeting with the Minister for Public Health who, very helpfully, has agreed to meet with my constituent's mum to hear the family's lived experience. Following a recent announcement by the Minister, I am pleased to hear eating disorder services will be subject to a national review, designed to assess and improve support for people living with an eating disorder. The review will publish in spring 2021 and will provide a full picture of the current support available for those with an eating disorder. It will then offer a number of recommendations to inform improvement work throughout 2021. This is my contribution to the debate.
