6. Gordon MacDonald (Edinburgh Pentlands) (SNP) To ask the Scottish Government how its budget for 2024-25 will support Police Scotland. (S6O-02939)
The Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Home Affairs (Angela Constance) Protecting front-line services and supporting those who deliver them is a key priority for the Scottish Government. That is why, despite deeply challenging financial circumstances, the 2024-25 Scottish budget provides record funding for the Scottish Police Authority and Police Scotland. We will invest £1.55 billion in policing in the next financial year. The police resource budget will be increased by £75.7 million, which is a 5.6 per cent increase, with the capital budget increasing to £64.6 million, which represents a 12.5 per cent increase on the 2023-24 budgets.
