Angela Constance MSP has welcomed the news from Scotrail that an additional 3 carriages will be added to the Glasgow Central to Edinburgh service each morning for commuters catching the 0745 service from Livingston South to Edinburgh. This follows an announcement as part of ScotRail’s £475 million investment in new and upgraded trains, and an assurance to provide more seats.
The Almond Valley MSP has made a number of representations to Scotrail on behalf of fed up constituents who have been complaining of overcrowding on peak time trains, causing misery for many commuters.
Having met with Scotrail earlier this year following their decision on the 0745 Livingston South to Edinburgh service to reduce from 4 to 3 carriages, the Almond Valley MSP is pleased at the decision to increase the same service to 6 carriages with effect from 15th December 2019. This in addition to the other earlier increased capacity by adding more than 3500 additional seats is most welcome.
Commenting, Ms Constance said -
“I am pleased ScotRail has listened to my concerns and those of my constituents, who have had to commute in overcrowded trains. It is quite clear that the 0745 from Livingston South to Edinburgh is a very busy service. A 3 carriage train on this line has been a problem for some time and I’m very pleased that this particular service will now benefit from 6 carriages every day.”
