Angela Constance MSP has today welcomed the positive news that over 100 jobs have been saved following the sale of API Foils Ltd to a major global packaging business, Aldus. API Foils Ltd is a leading manufacturer and distributor of foils, laminates and holographic materials and one of the oldest plants in the Livingston area.
Ms Constance said
“Understandably, there were many worried families after the devastating news that API Foils Ltd went into administration at the end of January 2020. Following this announcement, I offered advice and support, and sought an immediate meeting with the Minister for Business, Fair Work & Skills, Jamie Hepburn, MSP, who undertook to engage closely with local management, Scottish Enterprise, Unite and the administrators Ernst & Young. This announcement today will undoubtedly come as welcome news to the workforce and I am delighted at the positive outcome for this organisation in my constituency and I would like to congratulate everyone who has worked tirelessly over these past few weeks to secure this sale “
Jamie Hepburn MSP, Minister for Business, Fair Work & Skills added
“Following intense negotiations I spoke with both United the Union and the Administrator Ernst & Young at the end of last week (20 February) and I welcome the news that Aldus has now been agreed as the purchaser of the API foils business. This announcement follows an intensive period of work to secure a viable option for the ongoing business. My officials in Scottish Enterprise are remaining closely engaged with the local management team, who are aware that we stand ready to support the new business as it looks forward to a brighter future. I look forward to visiting the site in Livingston 27th February”
