SCOTTISH CITYLINK LAUNCHES NEW SERVICE CONNECTING LIVINGSTON AND MONKLANDS WITH GLASGOW AND EDINBURGH AIRPORT
Scottish Citylink is to launch a new coach route linking Livingston and Monklands with Glasgow and Edinburgh Airport.
From 6 March, the new Service 902 will operate hourly, connecting Glasgow, Bargeddie, Coatbridge, Airdrie, Chapelhall, Harthill, Heartlands, Livingston and Edinburgh Airport.
The route will provide important replacement links for local bus services that have been withdrawn in recent years.
Prices for a day return to Glasgow start at just £3.50 from Coatbridge, £4 from Airdrie and £10 from Livingston. Frequent travellers can make savings through the operator’s
10-journey ticket option or a monthly or annual pass that allows unlimited travel (see citylink.co.uk for full details).
In addition, anyone under 22 travels for free on all Scottish Citylink services with a valid NEC or Young Scot NEC.
The new route has been welcomed by MSP for Almond Valley, Angela Constance.
She said: I was delighted to attend the launch of the hourly service. Livingston and West Lothian is a great place to live and work, but our communities really value good public transport connections to both the East and West. I expecgt this will be a well used and valued service for many of my Constituents.
The 902 Service will operate from 5.15am until 11.05pm, ensuring people can use it to get to work, travel to the airport, for leisure purposes and to visit friends and family.
Tickets are available now and can be booked at citylink.co.uk
Scottish Citylink Operations Director Simone Smith added: “This new route is great news for our customers between Livingston or Monklands and Glasgow or Edinburgh Airport and we’re delighted to be introducing another affordable, high quality travel option to our network.
“This service will provide an important transport link for local people and we look forward to welcoming our customers on board.”
Scottish Citylink won the ‘Best Bus Service’ award at the 2022 Scottish Transport Awards.
Covid-19 secure measures on the Scottish Citylink coach network include a continued enhanced cleaning regime, anti-bacterial stations on board all coaches, protective equipment in place for all drivers, and increased filter changing schedules on air conditioning units.
