SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT’S LOCAL FOOD STRATEGY SHOWS THE VALUE OF PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
Angela Constance MSP urges Almond Valley residents to participate in the Scottish Government's Good Food Nation Plan consultation to enable everyone in Almond Valley to access healthy, sustainable food. The plan outlines ways to collaborate with businesses and organisations across society to connect people with locally produced, high-quality food and transform the country's food system.
The Scottish Government’s local food strategy, “Local Food for Everyone: Our Journey” also sets out how we can ensure that people have access to the best of Scottish produce. This follows a lengthy consultation which found that local production improves diets, lowers food miles, and retains value in communities.
Commenting, Angela Constance MSP said:
“The Scottish Government's Good Food Nation Plan provides a vision for a more sustainable nation and a roadmap to achieve it. Work at a local level will be crucial in achieving this, and as demonstrated by the Scottish Government’s local food strategy, it is so important that people across Almond Valley make their voices heard and participate in consultation events. By working together, we will ensure that everyone in Scotland can easily access high quality food and drink, benefitting from a more equitable and sustainable food system.”
