West Lothian, Scotland – Angela Constance MSP proudly announces a significant leap in digital connectivity for West Lothian, with 23,309 local premises now enjoying access to fibre-based broadband. This milestone achievement is part of the Scottish Government's substantial £1 billion investment into the nation's digital infrastructure, aimed at propelling Scotland into the forefront of the digital age.
The DSSB program in Scotland, launched in 2014 with £463 million, has connected over 950,600 premises to high-speed broadband, surpassing its target by 150,000. The initiative demonstrates the government's focus on improving digital connectivity, benefiting education, business, and leisure for citizens across Scotland. The Reaching 100% (R100) program in Scotland, backed by a £600 million budget, aims to provide broadband to challenging rural areas for economic benefits. An independent analysis shows a £12 return for every £1 invested, emphasizing the program's positive impact on the economy.
Angela Constance MSP commented on the achievement, stating; "The direct investment from the SNP Scottish Government into the DSSB program has been pivotal in connecting 23,309 premises in West Lothian to fibre-based broadband. This demonstrates our steadfast commitment to enhancing digital connectivity, promoting economic development, and improving the quality of life benefiting both the local community and the economy. We are proud to lead Scotland into a digitally empowered future, with fast and reliable broadband as a cornerstone of our modern, connected society."
This landmark advancement in digital connectivity is a clear indication of the Scottish Government's dedication to building a more connected, prosperous Scotland for all.
