SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT ACTION DRIVES MAJOR IMPROVEMENT IN SCHOOL CONDITIONS
Angela Constance MSP highlights significant progress in Almond Valley's school infrastructure
Angela Constance MSP has announced that new figures reveal substantial improvements in the condition of schools across Almond Valley, driven by the actions of the Scottish Government.
The 2024 School Estate Statistics, released this week, show that a record 91.7% of school buildings across Scotland are now in good or satisfactory condition. This marks an impressive increase of 29 percentage points since 2007. In West Lothian specifically, 93% of schools are now in a good or satisfactory state.
Commenting on the figures, Angela Constance, MSP for Almond Valley, said:
"The Scottish Government is dedicated to providing a world-class education for all students, and high-quality learning environments are a crucial part of this mission.
"These record figures demonstrate the significant progress made in improving school buildings, despite the ongoing austerity measures imposed by the new Labour government at Westminster, the Scottish Government remains committed to investing in the school estate through the £2 billion Learning Estate Programme. We will continue to prioritise public services and ensure that all pupils have the best possible learning environments."
