Healthcare Awareness Campaign Launched in Almond Valley

Where to Seek Help Over Winter

The Scottish Government has initiated an awareness campaign to ensure residents in Almond Valley are informed about accessing healthcare services effectively during the winter months. The campaign, titled "Right Care Right Place," is designed to assist the public in choosing the most suitable healthcare service for their needs. This guidance includes whether to contact their GP or pharmacy, call NHS 24 on 111, or utilize self-help guides available on the NHS Inform website. It emphasizes that hospital emergency departments should only be visited for critical emergencies.

This initiative features targeted advertising across television, radio, and online platforms, aiming to reduce the pressure on NHS and social care services as the demand typically increases during the winter season.

Health Secretary Neil Gray stated“We have been working closely with colleagues across the NHS and social care to make sure we are as prepared as possible ahead of winter. Public information and awareness of the treatment options and how to access them when needed is key to ensuring services are directed where they are most needed. This will help everyone to get the right care, in the right place as quickly as possible while helping alleviate pressures on the rest of the NHS. People can also help by making sure they receive their Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), Covid-19, and flu vaccinations if eligible.”

Angela Constance MSP expressed her support for the campaign, stating:
“As we approach the colder months, it's vital that the people of Almond Valley are well-informed about their healthcare choices. This campaign ensures that everyone knows how to access the appropriate services, which in turn helps relieve pressure on emergency departments and allows them to focus on critical cases. I'm confident that with cooperation, we can navigate the winter season smoothly and safely.”

The Scottish Government encourages everyone to take advantage of the campaign's resources to ensure they receive the right care at the right time, thereby contributing to a more efficient healthcare system during the busy winter months.
