Angela Constance MSP Responds to Schuh UK Announcement of Voluntary redundancies

In response to the announcement to staff by Schuh UK, who have their Headquarters based in Deans Industrial Estate, Livingston Angela Constance, constituency MSP for Almond Valley has spoken of her disappointment for the workforce.  The decision is driven by challenging economic conditions and rising costs with a plan to restructure the business, resulting in a reduction of employees in Livingston and across the country.

Angela Constance MSP said:

This is deeply disappointing news for the employees, their families, and the local economy.  I will do everything I can to support the workforce and the retention of good quality local jobs in West Lothian by reaching out to government and enterprise agencies.  I will also be urgently seeking clarity on the rising costs referenced by Schuh as I am acutely aware of the concerns of employers large and small due to the hike in employers' national insurance contributions.
