Scottish Government Delivering £20.1 Million Worth of Business Rates Relief in West Lothian

2,760 BUSINESSES AND ORGANISATIONS IN WEST LOTHIAN RECEIVING 100% RATES RELIEF

Angela Constance MSP has welcomed the news that 3,800 properties in West Lothian received £20.1 million worth of non-domestic rates relief in 2024, thanks to Scottish Government policies.

Scottish Government schemes, such as the Small Business Bonus Scheme, provide eligible organisations with up to 100% rates relief lifting 2,760 businesses and organisations in West Lothian out of paying non-domestic rates altogether.

Angela Constance MSP welcomed these figures, which highlight the Scottish Government’s commitment to supporting small businesses and organisations in West Lothian.

Commenting, Angela Constance MSP said:

"I welcome the news that 3,800 businesses and organisations in West Lothian have received £20.1 million worth of rates relief in 2024, thanks to Scottish Government policies. This includes 100% rates relief for 2,760 eligible small businesses and organisations in West Lothian a really significant number. Scotland’s rates relief policies are the most generous in the UK, with over 95% of non-domestic properties in Scotland expected to pay less property tax than elsewhere in the UK, and over 100,000 taken out of paying rates altogether in 2025-26.  At a time when businesses are facing challenges, the substantial level of rates relief offered in Scotland will be a lifeline for many small businesses and organisations in West Lothian, demonstrating the Scottish Government’s commitment to supporting our local economy."
