New Report: Scotland Leads the Way in Tackling Child Poverty
Families across Almond Valley are set to benefit as new research shows Scotland is on track to reduce child poverty while rates are expected to rise across the rest of the UK. A report from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation highlights that Scotland’s child poverty rate is projected to fall from 23.7% to 21.8% by January 2029. This progress is being driven by the Scottish Government’s bold and compassionate policies, including the Scottish Child Payment and the removal of the two-child benefit cap.
These measures are making a real difference for families in Almond Valley and across Scotland, setting the country apart as a leader in tackling poverty.
Welcoming the report, Angela Constance MSP said:
“This is further proof that the Scottish Government is delivering for families across Scotland, including here in Almond Valley. While child poverty is predicted to rise elsewhere in the UK, our policies like the Scottish Child Payment are providing real support to those who need it most.”
“Every child deserves the best start in life, and that’s exactly what we’re working towards. The Scottish Government is committed to eradicating child poverty, and while there is always more to do, this report shows we are making real progress. The Scottish Government remains focused on building a fairer future, ensuring that every child in Almond Valley and across Scotland has the support they need to thrive.”
