LABOUR FAILS TO BACK FUNDING FOR LOCAL SERVICES
I am delighted that John Swinney’s first Budget as First Minister has been passed in the Scottish Parliament – delivering real investment and support for people in West Lothian.
This Budget will:
• Invest a record £21.7 billion in our NHS to support patients and staff.
• Restore winter fuel payments for pensioners – after Labour scrapped them across the UK.
• Abolish the cruel two-child benefit cap – tackling child poverty head-on.
• Deliver additional investment for Grangemouth and its workforce to secure a fair transition.
• Keep income tax lower for most Scots than in the rest of the UK.
• Provide the most generous business rates relief package anywhere in the UK.
• Boost Scotland’s culture sector with an extra £34 million in investment – more than Labour had even called for.
This is a budget that delivers for our communities, our public services, and our economy.
